Five new fibre connections, spread over a wide area, reduce contention on some of the over-the-hill links and improve resilience against localised issues.
With 3 fibres now in the Heriot portion of the network we are finally able to reduce the ‘over the hill’ links to being mainly used for backup purposes, and of course connecting local customers.
We still have some areas of the network that don’t have redundant links out to more than one fibre, so we will be continuing to invest in bits of infrastructure that helps keep the network running.
